Comments (0) | The historic Cambria building once home to Camozzi’s Saloon will reopen Friday, July 25, with a new name — Mozzi’s Saloon — in a fully renovated facility, according to co-owner Kellie Williams.
The bar closed in November 2006 when the former owner, embroiled in a dispute with his landlord, left town.
Williams and her partner William A. Newman of Ann Arbor, Mich., bought the building, but not the business name, in March 2007. They have completely revamped the structure, trying to remodel in keeping with its past while bringing the historic building up to county and fire-department codes.
In the late 1870s, pioneer entrepreneurs started a general merchandise store at 2262 Main St. After the original building burned down in 1889, it was succeeded by a meat market. Sometime between 1905 and 1915, the business changed into a saloon with card-game tables and upstairs rooms for rent.
Mozzi’s will offer a snooker table, pool, video games and a jukebox tied into a high-tech sound system, with live entertainment on weekends.
Cadillac Angels will play Friday, July 25. The bar will host a private party Saturday night before reopening to the public at 10 p.m.
