Comments (0) | The county Department of Public Works has announced road closures and traffic control associated with pipeline construction for the Nacimiento Water Project.
Crews are working on building the pipeline at a number of locations simultaneously. Some of the work is visible from Highway 101.
The pipeline is expected to be complete and water deliveries able to begin in 2010.
Officials said the construction will affect traffic in the following places:
• Santa Ysabel Road, south of Paso Robles—Residents of the Santa Ysabel Ranch are advised to use the South River Road entrance during pipeline construction on Santa Ysabel Road. A one-lane traffic control will be in place 24 hours a day until the work is done. The project portion is expected to be completed in late August.
• Monterey Road, north of Paso Robles—Pipeline testing and repaving along Monterey Road from Exline Road to Wellsona Road will be ongoing through early August. Businesses along the road are accessible. One-lane traffic control and delays will take place between 7 a. m. and 5 p. m. Monday through Friday.
• El Camino Real, Atascadero — The pipeline is being installed along El Camino Real in Atascadero and Santa Margarita, and associated restoration work is taking place on El Camino from Asuncion Road to Santa Margarita. One-lane traffic control and short delays will be in place through mid-August.
• Rocky Canyon Road, Atascadero — The road is now open to traffic from Highway 41 to Halcon Road. However, work is still taking place in the area, and flag controls will be in place from 7 a. m. to 5 p. m. Monday through Friday through late August.
• Sandoval Road, south of Atascadero — Work on pipeline installation under the Union Pacific Railroad, as well as testing and road restoration, is ongoing. Repaving of Sandoval Road will begin Aug. 4 and last through mid-August. There will be local access only, with traffic delays from 7 a. m. to 6 p. m. Monday through Friday.
